Ryan The Amazing 3 Year Old
July 29, 2008
Ryan, you are three! I feel like I’ve known you forever, and I’m sure I have somehow…
You were a happy, peaceful baby, and you’re a happy, peaceful child.
You’ve brought such joy into my life, your life is such a gift!
How amazing is it that I get to be your mother? What did I do to deserve you?
You are a gentle soul. You have a gentle voice, and a gentle manner.
You are a big brother, and a little brother. How lucky for you!
I can’t imagine a life without you.
You’ve gone through hospital stays with bronchiolitis, and have had more bee stings than most people get in a life time.
You’ve had chicken pox, fought with asthma and croup, and lived with a big brother that liked biting you!
You’ve been famous at the pediatrician’s office! You were the only baby they’ve ever seen or heard of who had an anaphylactic reaction to the Prevnar vaccine. You were the only baby they had ever seen with the shingles. Add to that impetigo and eczema, and you’ve done many of the major skin rashes.
You love Thomas the Train. You love to paint pictures. You love to play outside. You do not like elevators, and you appropriately call them elegators. You don’t like fireworks, the big pool at the Y, and you definitely don’t like peas.
You are a beautiful boy, and a beautiful person. I have no doubt that you will always shine, no matter where life may take you.
I love you Ryan, it’s been a sweet 3 years. Happy birthday!

Fun Monday Fish Story
July 7, 2008
Fun Monday is a little fishy this week, and is being hosted by Ur Olive. Check it out!
I’ve been having a great time fishing with my family this summer. I’ve been bugging my husband to go fishing with me for what seems like forever, and now that I’m not pregnant or carrying a newborn around everywhere, we’ve finally been able to go.
Fishing is one of my favorite childhood memories, and I hope my kids will say the same thing some day when they’re fishing with their own kids.
That’s me on the left, my sister is on the right.
And now, my boy. There’s a sunny in those weeds, his first catch!

The stars and the bars
Wave proudly at driveway’s end,
Symbol of freedom.

Across the street from our house, there is a crude road cut into the woods where perhaps, someday, there will be a house.
For now it is where we find our raspberry booty.
Tuesday we had raspberry muffins for breakfast, last night we had raspberry pancakes and bacon out on the deck.
The boys have been helping me make dinner every night so far this week as part of my evil plan to get them eating a wider variety of foods. I’m hoping that sharing in the prep will encourage them. I have to admit that few of my scheming plots have worked thus far.
On an altogether different note, we have a new baby!
She’s a Jack-a-Bee, half Jack Russell, half Beagle. We gave her a home, her family couldn’t take care of her any longer. Wish us luck!
